Susan MacAvery has over 25 years experience helping people solve their landscape problems and make their garden aspirations a reality. She has worked with home gardeners and horticulture professionals throughout the Hudson Valley.

Technical know-how is key to preventing and resolving pest problems. Susan is a graduate of Cornell University, with a BS in Plant Science. As a Horticulture Educator for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Orange County, Susan sharpened her skills as a diagnostician of  plant problems caused by insects, diseases, and the environment. She enjoys the challenge of helping other gardeners to trouble shoot in their gardens and landscapes, and propose solutions for healthy, happy plants.

Susan has been employed as a horticulturist at Locust Grove, the Samuel Morse Historic Site in Poughkeepsie, NY for over 13 years. She works with a dedicated corps of volunteers who help to plant and maintain the gardens. She regularly instructs volunteers on best practices in the greenhouse and gardens at Locust Grove, and she looks forward to bringing her gardening expertise to your home garden in the Mid Hudson Valley.
